This allows you to get going straight away. Alternatively, you can use a Multitrack Recorder like the Tascam DP-03SD or Zoom R8. Multitrack Recorders usually have XLR inputs, so you can connect a microphone directly. There are also products dedicated for podcast recording and editing. Some examples of this include the Rodecaster Pro and Zoom Podtrak P8.
Question: What extra equipment do I need for a 2 person podcast?
For a two person podcast, you will need an audio interface or recorder with at least two XLR inputs. From there you just need a second microphone and pair of headphones. If you plan to record even more than two people, just add a microphone and pair of headphones for each person. Just make sure your audio interface or recorder has enough XLR inputs. A headphone amp can be useful too, as it allows you to have more headphones connected. This allows everyone to hear things properly when recording.
Question: Do I need a dynamic or condenser microphone for podcasting?
While both options can do the job, we recommend choosing a dynamic microphone. Due to its close pick up range, it is less susceptible to room noise. You want your voice to be as clear as possible on a podcast, so minimizing any background noise is essential.
